Dear Mainstream America/Nations Police,

When we were children we were taught that we should run to the police if we are in trouble, need protection, or are afraid in any way. That they are there to “serve and protect”. For a while we bought into that, even wanting to become police officers, as I did when I was young, that is until we see that if you are black or brown your rights as a human being  are questionable let alone your basic American rights. That They aren’t real life super heroes but Overseer’s only this time instead of a whip they wield a Glock 9mm. This instills a sense of fear that festers into a sense of racial bias and then becomes anger. An anger that grew the “Fuck The Police”  and “No Snitchin” movements into nationwide phenomenons. You “mainstream” Americans would have the world to believe this doesn’t happen, that minorities are just criminalistic savages that cant take being dealt justice. I ask you, is this the justice you speak of? The justice your white privilege has afforded you? Your default status has given you yet another luxury, a sense of blindness to these blatant injustices. One that I and millions of others never have been extended. You trivialize our anger as being too sensitive and racially conscious. That we just don’t understand that they are only doing their jobs. You slap on extra charges on those of us that run from these members of an overwhelmingly under-managed and unchecked section of society, because of a fear you’ve given us. Too many times have we seen family members pulled over for the classic “your tint is too dark” or “your back lights are out” only to harass us and further ingrain into our heads that the ink on our freedom papers isn’t yet dry. There is a sense of trepidation that consumes us when police are near, even when we arent doing anything wrong, because we know of  our own  Amadou Diallo, Sean Bell,  Reginald Doucet and countless others before and after them that have been shot dozens of times for doing less than nothing and you got away with it all under the cover of your badge You have reinforced your power with such vicious displays of bravado I’m becoming aware who the animals with no cages are although I almost forgot.

Thanks For The Reminder,
Tyron

PS; Hey Cop that little tid bit around the 1:51 mark where you informed Donrell Breaux you would shoot him in the head, was that just personal flair or state issued tactics?

Damn cuz that was deep. I totally respect you now. Shihhhh you should be a writer or sumn!!!

Not really. You’re a fucking idiot. If your tint is too dark.. It’s too dark. If your back lights are out, they’re out. It’s a perfectly legit reason to pull someone over. If you are innocent then what’s the problem with complying with the police? You wouldn’t be thrown to the ground like a rag doll if you were truly innocent. I’ve never been thrown to the ground, or anything like that even when I was obviously guilty of doing something stupid. So why don’t you get off your high horse and get a fucking life.

Are you retarded? The police are not your friends. They’re exactly what he said they are, and it’s no urban legends that they’re racist. All cops are bastards.
This cop didn’t comply with a citizen’s right to know his name and badge number and didn’t show a warrant- I doubt this man was suspected of domestic terrorism.

I’ve been pushed to the ground while innocent. I’ve been arrested and then given made-up charges. I’ve been beat up by the police for no reason and then been given “resisting arrest” charges because they were yelling “stop resisting!” as they kicked me while I was down.

The fact that you think the cops are here to protect everyone is laughable.
That “white privilege” he was talking about? You exemplify it. And you turn a blind eye to both your own privilege and the injustices committed because they don’t apply to you. You’re so indoctrinated that you attack people trying to open your eyes. The evidence is right in front of you but you refuse to see it.

You sound like a fucking bonehead

I appreciate the effort, but me being white has nothing to do with it. You call me a bonehead when in fact I’m anti racist. Your shit you’re spewing is that exactly. Shit. You refuse to take responsibility for your own actions which result in you saying “acab” and shit like that. You’re a fucking loser. With that kind of attitude towards police, id slam you to the ground and tase you. RESPECT IS EARNED NOT GIVEN. You respect me. I’ll respect you. Obviously you don’t have any respect.

Dude your shit’s weak. You’re ignoring my point by attacking me specifically. You’re gonna slam me into the ground and tase me for my lack of respect? You say respect is earned not given- there was definitely a point where I respected you- I’ve been following you for something like 6 months now. Maybe longer. But over time YOU LOST MY RESPECT because of shit like this. Being anti-racist isn’t a thing you just claim. It’s something you do. So you’re not in the kkk. I don’t see you speaking out against racism. In fact, all I’ve seen you do is bash the people who do. You wanna be anti-oppression? You’re doing it wrong.

For the record, I’m white too, and I RECOGNIZE we have privilege that minorities do not. I RECOGNIZE that even in cases where someone actually committed a crime, often times if they’re of minority status, the punishment far exceeds what you or I would receive. Let alone the socio-economic factors that influence people and give them the incentive to commit a crime in the first place.

As for taking account of my own actions, we can really break that down into you drawing a universe from a grain of sand. I don’t like the police. They’ve never helped me. Ever. The one time I actually called them for help, they threatened to arrest me instead.
How about the time I was smoking a cigarette outside my front door so they stopped me for b&e, or the time they stopped me on bogus graffiti charges the second I set foot out of my friends house? Try to tell me I don’t hold myself accountable for my actions, I’ll tell you the police are not held accountable for theirs.

I’m against racism in all forms. But there has been lots of unrecognized racism. There’s lots of people in this world who are anti white because of “privileges” we may have. So when people think they can get away with calling people crackers and honkies, they’re wrong. That’s racist. I wouldn’t call someone a nigher or a spic just like I wouldn’t call someone a cracker. They’re racial slurs. And if you hangout with people who get in trouble with the law frequently, that’s your own fault. You’re opening yourself up to being “oppressed by the man”. Every encounter with police is logged in detail. Law enforcement officers are a band of brothers. When they look at your record and see you were disorderly without detention, they will look at you as a disorderly individual from then on. But if you hate the police so much, then by all means do not call them if your house gets broken into, if you get assaulted, robbed, shot at etc.. Good luck. You can be on your own for that one. You can’t be mad at someone that puts their life in danger every day just to get shit heads off the streets. If people wanna look at cops as pigs, then the police will look at everyone as a potential suspect. It’s the way the world works. And until you’ve dealt with the lower than earth scum, you don’t know the position the police are in. They have dealt with the nicest civil people who suddenly snap and try to grab a cops gun. In a cops mind everyone has a gun. And everyone is out to kill them. A cop can never let their guard down. The police need to gain control of the situation sometimes by putting people in cuffs. And people don’t like that. But how is the cop supposed to know if the guy has a knife in his pocket? Trust the guy when he tells the cop he has no weapons? Yeah.. Right.

I’m not against our privileges, I’m against the fact that they even ARE privileges in the first place. Instead of denouncing people for calling out their oppression, telling them things like ‘no smoke without fire,’ we should be helping to pull them up to our level. Our privilege and looking the other way is “built in” oppression. It’s not active, it’s systemic and something we need to dismantle.

I’ll argue that once you remove the sources of systemic oppression, 90% or more of the crime in our society will melt away. That leaves the really fucked up assholes. In depth psychiatric research on the baddest of the bad shows they weren’t just born that way. Even if they had a predisposition to violence, there was always a trigger in their (usually very young) life that caused this change in their perception. And that horrible thing that catalyzed them to be so ruthless is a product of built-in oppression and inequality.

As for the cops, they’re self sustaining. They maintain the status quo, which keeps the inequalities, which keeps the crime, which keeps them in business. I understand their fear, but they create, in part, the conditions that make them need to be fearful in the first place.
Furthermore, just because they worry that they could get hurt doesn’t give them the right in any way shape or form to take brutal measures against someone with no real reason. It doesn’t give them the right to arrest on bogus charges. It doesn’t give them the right to be a corrupt organization, and it doesn’t make it okay that they cover up their brothers’ bad behavior.
Just like how I’ll call you out when I think you’re fucking up. Cronyism is just as bad as anything else

like yeah there’s a huge problem with police corruption and racism and shit but to say they are ALL horrible people is just problematic. my next door neighbor was a cop and he fucked with my family just because he didn’t like me and the people i hung out with but I’m not like FUCK PIGS

Sorry decided to split this off the discussion with azskin. You’re right, it is wrong to hold the actions of many police to all police but like you said, they’re in a position of power. It’s like claiming reverse sexism our racism. Also cops choose to be cops, which again makes it different. I think typically those in power of whatever type are prone to corruption- doctors, therapists, police, politicians, etc. Even white people/men get corrupted by the associated privilege. That’s why you haven’t met any men who truly see you as an equal (sorry we suck.) In turn I’m sure there are many minorities who feel they’ve never met a white person who truly saw them as an equal. But there are kinds of power you choose and kinds you don’t, and they need to be treated differently. For instance the person who decides to become a cop has made the choice to become a piece of the oppressive power structure and deserves to be railed on. The white-cis-male who has unwittingly been corrupted by their privilege needs to be taken on an individual basis and have their eyes opened. If they can see it and exploit it then they suck and you rail on them too. At least that’s how I see it
